Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 September 2026 · Applies to Diary Keeper – Private Journal for iOS

The short version. Diary Keeper has no accounts and no servers that store your writing. Your entries, photos, voice notes and places stay on your device and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your own iCloud account. We cannot read them. The only data that leaves your device is anonymous usage analytics and the data Google AdMob uses to show ads in the free version.

1. Who we are

Diary Keeper – Private Journal ("the App") is developed and published by Saranjith Krishnan ("we", "our", "us"), an independent developer based in India. This policy explains what information the App handles, why, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to this policy.

2. Your diary content stays with you

Everything you write or add in the App — entries, titles, tags, events, moods, bookmarks, photos, voice notes, places, quotes and settings ("Diary Content") — is stored locally on your device. We do not collect it, transmit it to our servers, or have any way to access it.

3. Information we do collect

3.1 Usage analytics (Mixpanel)

To understand which features are used and to fix crashes, the App sends anonymous usage events to Mixpanel, for example "entry saved", "template opened" or "export completed". These events contain:

Analytics events never include the text of your entries, your photos, voice notes, tags, places, moods or any other Diary Content. See Mixpanel's Privacy Policy.

3.2 Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of the App shows ads served by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, Google may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA, only if you allow tracking when iOS asks), IP address, coarse location derived from it, and device information. Where required, the App shows a consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) and honours your choice. Diary Content is never shared with Google. See How Google uses information from apps that use its services.

You can limit ad personalisation in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and → Apple Advertising. Purchasing Remove Ads removes the ad SDK's activity from the App entirely.

3.3 Purchases

The Remove Ads purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive only an anonymous confirmation that the purchase was made; we never see your payment details. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

3.4 Support email

If you email us, we keep your message and email address for as long as needed to help you, and then delete it. Please do not include diary entries in support emails unless you want to.

3.5 Notifications

Daily reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server and do not store your device token.

5. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. The only third parties that receive data are the service providers named above (Apple, Mixpanel and Google), each acting under its own privacy policy, and authorities where the law requires disclosure. If the App is ever transferred to a new owner, this policy will continue to apply to previously collected data.

6. Data retention

7. Security

Diary Content on the device is protected by iOS data protection and, when locked, by your passcode and Face ID or Touch ID. iCloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. No method of storage is perfectly secure, so we recommend keeping a regular backup export in a place you trust.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK GDPR and India's DPDP Act), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or export personal data, and to withdraw consent. Because we hold no Diary Content and no identifiable analytics, most of these rights can be exercised directly on your device:

9. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the App's release notes.
